Being a Relate counsellor or trainer gives you the chance to have a positive impact on people's lives, and can be an incredibly rewarding job.

Train as a Relate counsellor

Our counsellors, sex therapists and trainers help over 1 million people every year and receive regular supervision and support throughout their training and practice.

We offer excellent opportunities for personal growth and development, and provide further training for those who want to specialise in a particular form of relationship counselling such as family counselling, psychosexual therapy or counselling for young people.

The Relate Institute

The Relate Institute is our training academy for Relate counsellors. A faculty of Doncaster College, its academic programme is validated by the University of Hull and over 300 students a year undertake the programme at five locations across the UK.

The students include those who are new to counselling and qualified counsellors extending and developing their skills by undertaking advanced study at postgraduate level.

Become a Relate Trainer

We offer a range of relationship education and training workshops for the public, voluntary and public sector organisations, schools and businesses.

Our workshops help people develop practical skills, gain a greater understanding of their relationships and meet others who are going through similar things. They are run in small groups, as day-long sessions or over a number of evenings. They are often formally accredited by OCN.

Workshops are developed through our central external education and training unit and delivered at Relate Centres across the UK. Trainers can be based at a local Relate Centre or work as an Associate Trainer on contracts arranged by our Central Office.
