About

Helping BT staff through the recession
Relate exists to help people with their relationships. Couples, individuals, children, young people and whole families receive help with all aspects of their relationships. BT has been working on joint initiatives with Relate for just over twelve months now. Recently Relate has launched a ‘Recession Package’ to provide emotional support, help, and guidance to parents and individuals, where their couple or family relationships may have been impacted in some way by the recession.
As part of our joint working, Relate is extending this offer to BT. This means BT staff and their families can access confidential sessions with a Relate counsellor online or by telephone and in addition to the current employee assistance programme. The service is completely confidential and does not require any referral from a manager for BT staff.
Online support via Live Chat
Relate Counsellors can provide instant, confidential, one-to-one emotional support to individuals, couples, parents and grandparents on recession issues, by text over the internet. Relate’s experience tells us that many people go through times where they need instant support on a worrying personal issue, but would not need six sessions of therapy at that time. This Live Chat service provides that instant help. There is no time limit restriction on the use of this service - although Relate’s experience is that most Live Chats last an average of 30-40 minutes - and you can use the service as many times as you like.
Live Chat is FREE to BT staff
Opening Hours:
9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday
7pm to 9pm, Sunday, Monday & Wednesday
Relate can also provide Live Chats by appointment outside these hours. To request an appointment please email relateforparents@relate.org.uk or telephone 0300 100 1234.
To use the service, please click on the button below. You will be asked for some basic information, which will help Relate keep the service free, i.e. first name, age, gender, ethnicity, and the first part of your postcode. This information is only held by Relate and is not shared with BT or any other organisation.
Telephone Counselling
Relate can also provide telephone counselling sessions in addition to the current four sessions through the employee assistance programme. These are one hour sessions with a Relate Counsellor and are charged at £15 each (usually £45). For more information on how to be referred, please contact the employee assistance programme.
Opening Hours for Relate telephone counselling:
8am to 9pm Monday to Thursday
8am to 5pm Friday
10am to 12pm Saturday
When calling please make Relate Consultants aware you are from BT to ensure the correct charge is made.
