Family Breakup: Relate for Parents
Family breakup affects the children, they face practical changes in living arrangements and feel the emotional impact. As a parent you can manage things in the way that's best for them.
What is Relate for Parents?
Relate for Parents puts the emphasis on the children. If you and your partner are separating Relate can help you to deal with the process positively and learn how best to help the children through the experience. It can help you shield them from negative emotions and plan important contact with the parent who is no longer at home.

Other support
Relate can support you and your children through a divorce or separation with the following services:
Mediation
Mediation is not like counselling, it helps couples who have decided to separate deal positively with the practicalities of relationship breakup such as finance, property and parenting issues; and to reach agreement.
Parents Apart: A workshop focused on managing needs of your children. It is important that both parents maintain contact with their children following divorce or separation; this workshop will help you manage the practical and emotional aspects of being co-parents who live apart.
Relate Counselling for Young People: If you are aged 10-25 and your parents or adult carers are separating or in conflict, Relate can help. Time with a counsellor on a one to one basis in private will help you express and understand your feelings and better understand what is happening in their relationship.
