I'm divorcing/separating and I need help with Divorcing Couple Image
How can Relate help me?
Not all relationships make it. Sometimes, when there’s nothing else for it, marriages end in divorce and couples have to go their separate ways. If you have children, it’s important that your break-up goes as smoothly as possible to have as little impact on them as you can manage. Even if you don’t have kids, any relationship break down can affect all other areas of your life.
If you haven’t decided what’s best for you, talking things over with a Relate counsellor can help you come to a decision that’s best for everyone involved.
Here’s how we can help:
Relationship counselling can help you come to the decision of what you should do with your relationship. Once you have made that decision, we can help you either to work out your problems and stick together, or help you to split up from each other with the minimum of fuss.
Coming to see one of our family counsellors can help you deal with the effects a break up will have on your family, and keep the impact on your children as low as possible. Find out more about our Family Counselling service here and Relate offers other services for families that may help you.
Mediation is not like counselling, it helps couples who have decided to separate deal positively with the practicalities of relationship breakup such as finance, property and parenting issues; and to reach agreement. Not all Relate locations offer Mediation. Use our Find Your Nearest service to find out if your local Relate offers a Mediation service.
We have courses designed especially for people involved in a divorce or relationship break-down. Whether you need to cope after divorce or want help in the break-up process, we have courses for you.
The sorting out separation web app, from Help and Support for Separated Families, offers impartial help and support to anyone after separation.
