JUN 10 / Relate’s response to Government announcement of new taskforce on childhood and families.
Claire Tyler, Chief Executive of Relate, the UK’s largest provider of relationship counselling, said:
“Relate welcomes the setting up of the childhood and family taskforce, which will highlight the needs of families during the crucial period running up to the Comprehensive Spending Review.
“The spending cuts do not have to undermine families. The Spending Review will offer opportunities to rethink the support and services we currently offer families, and to do some things differently.
“It is really positive to have Ministers from across Government, with long interest in family well-being and stability, looking at this issue, and the involvement of the PM and DPM shows how seriously the coalition Government is taking it.’
“We look forward to working with the Government in making the coalition commitments to putting relationship support services on a stable footing, and to encourage their take up, a reality.”
