Relate Online and Telephone Counselling

What is Telephone Counselling?

Telephone Counselling is just like having a face-to-face counselling session except you’re talking to a trained counsellor over the phone.

You can arrange counselling sessions whenever is convenient for you.  We can provide specialist counselling in a wide range of relationship issues.

How to book a Telephone Counselling appointment

Contact our booking line on 0300 100 1234.  The booking line is open on Monday – Thursday: 8am to 9pm, Friday: 8am to 5pm and Saturday: 9am to 5pm (excluding Bank Holidays).

We will organise a suitable time, including evenings and weekends.  Payment will be taken via a debit/credit card, so please have your card to hand when calling.

If you would like to book another appointment, you can agree a date and time with your counsellor at the end of your call.  Otherwise, you can call the booking line to make the arrangements.

Charges

£45 per hour is the standard charge and this covers the cost of providing a Relate trained counsellor and does not make a profit. ½ hour sessions costing £25 are available but are not normally recommended for someone using the service for the first time.

The standard charge is based on calls to UK landlines. Any variations (including calls to mobiles) will incur a surcharge. For further information, please contact us. If you wish to reschedule or cancel a Telephone Counselling appointment you need to contact the Booking Line 24 hours in advance of the appointment within working hours. Click here for more details on our cancellation policy.

  • We are unable to arrange appointments by email, this must be done via the telephone only

What is Relate Online Counselling?

The Relate Online Counselling service enables you to work with a Relate counsellor online using exchange of emails. You will be allocated a fully trained counsellor who will work with you for as long as you need help, and we will send each reply to you within 4 working days of receiving it.

Charges

It costs just £28.50 for each email  - the reply you get from your counsellor is the equivalent of an hour's counselling face to face. The advantage is that you will be able to access the full text whenever you want to. You will probably want to think in terms of at least four email exchanges with your counsellor. However, each reply will be helpful in itself, and it is for you to decide how much help you want.

What do I do next?

You need to click the link below and make your payment. You will then be sent by email an online consultation form during office hours to complete, giving us information about the problem you are currently struggling with. There is also a space for you to give us details of any additional factors that might be influencing the situation such as money or health worries. We also ask for some information about you and your partner that will help us to understand you better.

How will I get my reply?

Your reply will be delivered to your e mail address –so do make sure that you are the only person who can access that address. You might want to set up a new email address so that you can be sure it will be private.

If you are concerned about other people reading your emails, read about Privacy Protection.

Safety

If you are being hurt or you are afraid for your safety or your children's safety, using the online service may not be your best option, but we may be able to help you increase your safety and get individual specialist support. If you are currently at risk, then it will probably be better to access help from Women's Aid or Men's Advice Line.

If you do not receive a reply to your email in 14 working days, please email the administrator of the Email a Counsellor service
