Relate Dorset & South Wiltshire is governed by a board of trustees and a President who together ensure that we always act in the best interests of our community.
Our board is made up of trained counsellors, mediators, public and private sector businesses and other individuals with a wealth of experience to bring to our work.
Lynne Purchase, Chair
Appointed Chair in 2016. Lynne worked for Barclays International Division for twenty years before having to give up full time work due to deterioration in her health.
Lynne brings a younger, more techno friendly attitude to the board and a unique perspective due to her disability and own life experiences.
Julie Kane, Vice Chair
Julie retired as a Relate Counsellor in 2013 and joined the board of trustees soon after.
Julie brings her clinical knowledge and experience to the board and makes sure that the voice of the client is clearly represented at board level. Julie takes an interest in supporting fundraising for Relate.
Outside of Relate Julie is a keen Ukelele player and enjoys travelling.
Mary Redman, Treasurer
Mary joined us following a career in IT Management at a leading International Investment bank. Mary has a BSc Hons in mathematics and is qualified (PGCE) to teach mathematics at secondary level. We share Mary with other Dorset based community activities
Georgie has been a trustee of Relate in Dorset for many years. She brings experience of working alongside the military both at home and abroad.
Recently celebrating her 90th birthday she explained “Relate has changed a lot over the years that I have been involved and many people might not realise the broad range of services we offer locally, such as family mediation and counselling for children, young people and families. The other trustees assure me that I remain on the board as our ‘compassion monitor’, making sure we remember our core aim of supporting people who are struggling with their relationships.”Â
As a mother, grandmother and great grandmother Georgie sees the wide variety of joys and challenges that people have in their relationships.
Jo recently retired after a full and successful career with the NHS. She brings specialist experience to the Board helping us to understand the complexity of working alongside large organisations while maintaining client focus.
