What do your services cost?

The cost of your initial Counselling or Sex Therapy consultation, and the cost of your ongoing sessions, is agreed between you and your Counsellor according to your income.

Relate London North East and North Essex is a charity and we don't make a profit from our services. We charge a fee to cover the costs of the counselling/therapy sessions.

An inital meeting with a Mediator costs £85 per person for a 45 minute appointment. Mediation is free for those on a low income who are eligible for legal aid. You can check if you qualify by using the legal aid checker on If you're not eligible you will be asked to pay a charge related to your income.

How do I make an appointment?

You can book an appointment for our counselling or sex therapy services by calling 01708 441 722.

Where are your services located?

We have several locations across the boroughs of Havering, Barking & Dagenham, Chelmsford, Redbridge, Waltham Forest, Newham, Tower Hamlets, Hackney and Enfield & Haringey.

How do I pay for my appointment?

We operate a pre-pay system and we ask for a payment when you book your first appointment either by credit or debit card. After which all appointment payments are taken on the morning of your appointment.

How do I cancel or reschedule my appointment?

We ask you give us at least three working days’ notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment, by calling us on  01708 441 722 for counselling appointments or on 020 8514 7880 if it's a Mediation appointment. 

Can I bring my children with me?

Unfortunately we do not have the facilities for children to attend our services.  We would ask you to make arrangements for childcare while you attend your counselling/therapy appointments.

Are your services confidential?

All our services are completely confidential. We will not give your name or any other information about you to anyone outside Relate unless someone's personal safety is at risk.

Can I come to counselling on my own?

Yes. Our counselling sessions are for individuals, couples or families. You may want to come to some sessions alone, with a partner or with your family members. If you have questions about this contact us and we can work with you to figure out what's best.

Is there disabled access at your Centre?

The majority of our locations do have disabled access. If you have a disability, please let us know when you book your appointment.

How do I make a complaint?

Our aim is to provide a high level of service to all clients who come to Relate London North East and North Essex; if you feel we have not met this standard we want to hear from you.
