Our Trustees share the responsibility for the overall running, strategic direction, management and financial security of Relate Portsmouth & District and are voting members of the charity’s governing body.

Susan Maplesden, Chair

Susan has been a Trustee of Relate Portsmouth and District since March 2008 and Chair since 2011. 

Her background is in the computer industry. She has worked in a wide variety of roles, including Financial Analyst, Product Manager and European Sales Re-engineering Manager.

Susan took her Association of Certified and Corporate Accountants examinations while working as a financial analyst. She also has a degree in Psychology (BSc) from the Open University.

Susan has been on the board of Relate’s National Council as a Trustee since July 2013 and also serves on the Finance and Audit committee.

Janice Bell, Trustee and Vice Chair

Janice has been a Trustee at Relate Portsmouth & District since 2011, most recently as Vice Chair.

She is by background a Senior IT Executive specialising in Outsourcing and Managed Services, and is Director and owner of an independent management consultancy. Prior to this Janice had responsibility for IBM’s UK and Ireland outsourcing delivery.

She brings a background in business management, contract bidding and delivery, governance and risk management, providing voluntary expertise in these functions alongside her role as Trustee and Vice Chair. 

In her spare time, Janice enjoys sailing, watching rugby and going to the theatre. She also dedicates a lot of time to running and swimming. She is also a member of the Open University Business School’s International Advisory Board.

Glenn Musson, Treasurer

Inge Forder

Inge has been a trustee of Relate Portsmouth & District since 2012. Her main links are with Gosport where she's also a local government Councillor. Inge first became first involved with Relate as a representative for Gosport Borough Council.

Inge's background is in teaching. She's taught in Secondary Schools, Six Form Colleges, as an Adult Education tutor as well as being a lecturer for the Language Wide Language Learning Programme linked to University Courses. She has a BA (Econ) from Manchester University and has taught Modern Languages and Social Science subjects. Teaching students of various ages has given her insight into the problems young people can face as well as an ability to listen but also to make sure information is disseminated in a way that a learner can understand.

Although Inge has had no previous experience in the third sector she has found involvement with Relate Portsmouth & District extremely interesting and very rewarding.

Lorna Reavley

Lorna is currently the Chief Executive of Solent Students’ Union and her career history includes working in both the public and voluntary sectors with children, young people and families. She has worked within inpatient and outpatient Child and Adolescent Mental Health services, a Local Authority secure unit; a local children’s centre in Portsmouth and has led a county wide Family Group Conference Service in Hampshire.

Lorna is passionate about ensuring there is support for families and that young people have a voice in the decisions which affect their lives. She has a BSc (Hons) in Psychology, a certificate in Family Therapy and an LLM qualification in Leadership and Management. Lorna joined Relate Portsmouth and District as a Trustee in September 2014.

Sue Love

Sue has been involved with Relate Portsmouth & District for two years. Her background is in Human Resources and has worked with many organisations in and around the Portsmouth area, finishing her corporate career as an HR Director for a multinational pharmaceutical organisation.

Nowadays, Sue runs her own HR consultancy business supporting large and small organisations with HR issues.

Sue is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management and also works for them as a Consultant and Assessor.

Sue is also a Trustee and Director of the Kings Theatre, Southsea.

Jennifer Head

Jennifer Head joined Relate as a Trustee in 2016.

Jennifer has a background in Sales and Marketing Management, working with medical devices, predominantly within the NHS. She has experience in business & market development, market research and social media marketing. Jennifer has a degree in Politics, a Masters degree in Strategic Marketing and is due to complete her MBA in 2017.

In her spare time, Jennifer enjoys travelling, yoga & pilates, walking her miniature poodle puppy and binge-watching TV boxsets.

Gary Price

Gary was appointed as a Trustee at Relate Portsmouth & District in early 2017.

His career has been spent mainly in retail financial services such as banking, insurance, pensions and investments, whilst working in a range of business areas including customer service, change management, IT and marketing.

Most recently Gary has operated as an independent consultant specialising in digital strategy, customer experience and executive coaching.

He enjoys keeping active and is a keen runner, having completed 3 marathons, as well as being a novice cyclist.
