Divorce mediation

Relate Nottinghamshire supports those who are separating, divorcing or dissolving a civil partnership.

Going through a divorce can be one of the most stressful situations that a person can go through in their life. It creates a multitude of mixed feelings and emotions that can make it hard to see things clearly and understand what is the best way forward.

There are many things to consider when you are in the process of divorce and they may include having to organise a shared property, accounts and the care of any children.

At Relate Nottinghamshire we are here to support you through the divorce process with our mediation service.

Divorce mediation offers a trained and neutral mediator who can help you navigate the process in a friendly, professional but concise way.

What does a mediator do?

A Mediator is a trained professional who will remain impartial throughout the mediation process.
Their role is to maintain a balanced approach to help both parties make fair decisions based on the needs of the family In the majority of cases, both parties will be offered an individual Mediation Initial Assessment Meeting also known as a MIAM

A MIAM is a one to one, confidential meeting to gather information about the current situation and to consider the options for the future and assess if Mediation is suitable.

Divorce Mediation in Nottinghamshire or online

Our Divorce Mediation sessions are offered at our offices in Nottinghamshire, as well as online, so we can be flexible to your needs.

With our Divorce Mediation we aim to ease the way for you to experience an amicable separation and with both parties feeling satisfied with any agreements and solutions that are required.

Through our Divorce Mediation Service in Nottinghamshire we can help you agree on how to divide assets, money, investments, properties and savings.

A benefit to Divorce Mediation is that matters can be settled without the additional requirements of going to Court and all the related fees with this process. It is common that people must explore mediation before they are even able to apply to a Court for their case to heard and resolved.

Divorce Mediation often goes hand-in-hand with family mediation (link to family mediation page) too. Deciding residence and contact agreements can be another highly emotional process so many ex-partners find themselves requiring support in this area.
