Clinical Placement Requirements
To strengthen professional readiness and align with current supervisory standards, learners are required to complete:
• 25 hours of offering clinical supervision to qualified or trainee counsellors and psychotherapists
• A minimum of 5 hours of supervision of supervision with an experienced clinical supervisor (minimum 1:5 ratio)
Entry Requirements
This diploma is designed for experienced practitioners who are ready to take the next step in their professional development.
Applicants must hold:
• A Level 5 Diploma or higher in the counselling modality they wish to supervise
• A minimum of 300 clinically supervised client hours completed post-qualification
• Satisfactory references from a current employer and/or current clinical supervisor
These requirements ensure all participants enter the programme with a strong foundation of therapeutic experience, allowing learning to operate at an advanced professional level.
Teaching & Assessment
The programme combines taught training days, skills practice, peer learning, reflective development, supervision experience, and assessment activities designed to deepen your professional competence.
You will critically examine your own supervisory work, develop a coherent theoretical framework, strengthen your decision-making skills, and learn how to support supervisees through complexity, uncertainty, and growth.
Assessment includes reflective assignments, skills-based evaluations, case study presentations, and a professional portfolio that evidences your development as a supervisor.
